Abstract

There are some types of medication administration in the health area, among them the intravenous route. Then there is a need to understand what are the safe procedures for administering drugs intravenously that prevent damage to the patient. The study was based on bibliographic research, protocols and safety standards, with the aim of improving the administration of medications intravenously by nursing professionals, from the presentation of the risks caused in this route of administration, in order to avoid them. The results of the research show that the safety protocols that guide these professionals to safely administer medication intravenously prevent possible harm to the patient, bringing them greater knowledge and a roadmap for administration in the intravenous route. with quality and safety. Finally, it is believed that the commitment of all professionals to follow the protocols before, during and after the administration of drugs intravenously generates security for both the procedure and the patient.
