It was observed that the level of knowledge about financial education in university students is higher in men, in young people up to 30 years old, married, with a higher level of education, in students of courses in the area of management and engineering, with higher individual or family income and in white and other races compared to black students, that knowledge was obtained predominantly outside the university environment, that the analyzed courses offered a low workload of finance content and that students with a greater number of dependents had a lower level of knowledge about financial education. Considering that knowledge about finance positively influences the quality of financial decision-making, which contributes to personal and professional success and, this impact on the country's economic growth, it is important to develop more actions on financial education, involving educational institutions, from elementary to university education and from private and governmental organizations.
