Impacto da criação da vacina contra dengue

Abstract

• Dengue is a disease that has affected a large part of the population over the years. A vaccine is the most effective way to prevent this disease. Currently, the National Health Surveillance Agency has a licensed and registered vaccine, however, it is not commercially available. A descriptive literature review study was developed. The research sample was made up of publications, which were collected from databases available on the Internet, namely: LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences); CAPES portal (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel); SciELO (Scientific Electronic Libralyonline); and MEDLINE (Medical LiteratureAnalysisRetrieval System Online). Thus, the results and discussions show that vaccination programs are essential for reducing the incidence and prevalence of dengue, in addition to favoring the reduction of complications associated with the disease. It is concluded that this study demonstrated that the dengue vaccine in public health can be an essential strategy to reduce mortality caused by the disease, as its objective is to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Furthermore, it was found in studies that the vaccine promotes a reduction in hospitalization rates, prevention and severity of the disease, immunological response, and greater concentration of antibodies.
