Abstract

Tocantins is a state that has emerged in Brazil as a major producer of grains, especially soybeans. As part of the MATOPIBA region (a region that connects the states of Bahia, Maranhão, Piauí, and Tocantins), soybeans are the main crop produced. The development in soybean production and cultivated area is due to the increased demand for the grain. The state of Tocantins has climatic and soil conditions that can be identified as a fundamental factor for this development. Thus, this study aims to conduct a study on the evolution of soybean production in the state of Tocantins from 2015 to 2023. The methodology used was a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The data were collected from the database of the National Supply Company (Conab), more specifically from the Grain Harvest Bulletin and the data table - production and balance of supply and demand for grains. Based on the data obtained, it was found that soybean production in the state of Tocantins, from 2015 to 2023, was 30,911.30 million tons (tons). When analyzing the evolution of production in the states of the Northern region from 2015 to 2023, it was noted that the state of Tocantins stood out the most in soybean production, in all periods analyzed. Within the nine years analyzed, it was possible to verify a growing evolution of the harvested area and grain production in the state of Tocantins.
